Hinged pin router for dremel and 43mm collar routers

Here is a useful tool I made recently a hinged pin router for Dremel and 43mm collar router. The photos should speak for themselves. Router in the down position.

The table is 20" by 18" and the pin is 12.5" from the edge.  Router in the up position. you can also see the height adjustment under the router cuter which is a 4mm threaded rod.

I extended the hinged arm to get a sound board under the router.

It is also has a height adjustment at the back for thicker boards.
The router is a 2mm dia with a 2mm dril bit as the pin. Fix the template to the underside with double sided tape. In use put the router down and adjust for height and switch on, the weight of the arm is enough to force the router into the wood. If you need any more information email me at  richardniceguitars.co.uk

Bolt on neck for an electric guitar.

This is not the only way of doing it! There are many different ways of bolting on necks, some are better than others. This is just a particular way I like. Check out Electric Guitars by Richard Nice
See photo for various components for a bolt on neck for an electric guitar. I only used the Tee nuts  which are on top and the connecting bolt in this instant.

Start with a good fitting joint. With the joint fitted together I drill the holes through the neck with a 6.5mm drill bit, taking care to miss the truss rod! The tee nuts need to be recessed into the neck and I use a Forstner bit 20mm for this.  A tip I learn years ago is to drill a hole with the forstner bit into a waste piece of wood and then centre this over the hole and clamp it in position to stop it drifting off.
Then mark off the length of the bolts and cut them 4mm short of the mark. The finger board will cover up the Tee nuts.
Stepper drills are excellent for starting the hole to recess the neck of the Tee nut which is 7.5mm by 12.50mm deep.
